Nun and Kun peaks are the greater Himalayan range and is easily accessible from kargil to Padum road. One day trek from the road will get you to the base camp for a great view of the peaks. Nun and Kun is the two known peak accessible from suru valley with (Nun 7135 meters) and (Kun 7075 meters) respectively. The massif is located near the Suru Valley, about 250 km(160 miles) east of Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir. Italian mountaineer Mario Piacenza made the first ascent of Kun in 1913, via the north-east ridge.

 

Day 01: Arrive Delhi

Arrive Delhi, transfer to hotel.

 

Day 02: In Delhi

Today you will be having meeting in Indian Mountaineering


Foundation officer wherein you will meet the Liaison officer and will have full filled other formalities.


Day 03: Flight Delhi - Leh

Transfer to domestic airport for flight to Leh. Arrive Leh transfer to hotel. Morning free. Afternoon short walk around Leh market.


Day 04: In Leh

Sightseeing to Stok, Matho and Sankar monasteries. After breakfast drive to Stok via Choklamsar. Here you cross Indus river which is one of the holiest rivers. In Stok one can visit the royal palace of present king and queen. In this palace there is a great collection of ancient royal ornaments, Thankas and old statues. About five minutes upward drive from the Stok Palace there is Gurpuk Gompa, about thirty monks reside in this monastery. The monks of this monastery belong to Gelukpa school. After visiting this monastery drive to Matho monastery which is 10 km. This monastery is built by Lama Tumgpa Dorje 13th century. This monastery is the only monastery of Saskyapa School in Ladakh. The famous two oracles who were invited from Tibet by the founder of this monastery. Presently 50 monks are residing and they practice in Saskyapa order. After visiting this monastery drive back to Leh. Afternoon, visit Sankar monastery which is walking distance from the main Market. This monastery which is surrounded by the typical houses of Ladakh and barley fields was built in 1845 and it s the branch monastery of Spituk. The H.H Bakula Rinpoche incumbents this monastery. Approximately 40 monks reside in this monastery. Overnight Hotel.


Day 05: In Leh

Full day sight seeing Shey, Thiksey and Hemis monastery. Morning: After breakfast full day sightseeing to Shey, Thiksey, Hemis. Shey palace is situated at a distance of 14 km from Leh. This palace is the oldest palace of Ladakh, which is built by the first king of Ladakh in 9th century, now days it is in a ruined condition. Here one can visit the temple of Unique Buddha with Copper and Gold gilded. The son of king Singey Namgyal builds this temple 16th century for the funeral memory of his father. After visiting this temple drive to Thiksey monastery which is 5 km from Shey. This is the oldest monastery of Gelukpa school in Ladakh which is build by the great Lama Paldan Shesrap in 14th century now in these days 80 monks are residing HH Khanpo Ringpoche incumbents this monastery. After visiting this monastery drive to Hemis monastery which is 26 km from Thiksey. The great mahasiddha Sthaksang Raspa along with great ancestor Singey Namgyal builds this monastery in 16th century. This monastery is the biggest and richest monastery of Ladakh. Presently 200 monks are residing this monastery and they practice in Drukpa School. After visiting this monastery drive back to Leh. Overnight at the Hotel.


Day 06: Drive Leh – Alchi –Lamayuru – Heniskut

Leave Leh after breakfast for Heniskut enroute visit Alchi and Lamayuru monastries. Overnight at Heniskut in Camp.


Alchi - Alchi is 70 kms from Leh has a large temple complex and is regarded as one of the most important Buddhists centers in Ladakh and a jewel of monastic skill. There are five shrines in the Choskor complex (11th Century) which has some splendid wall painted wooden flags, a reminder perhaps of the presence in ancient times of lakes in this desert. Lamayuru: The monastery is perched on a crag overlooking the Indus. The complex, which includes a library, thought to be the oldest in the region, was founded in the 11th century and belongs to the Tibetan Kagyupa sect. The present monastery dating from the 16th century was partly destroyed in the 19th. You can still see some of the murals, which mix Indian and Tibetan styles, the 11 headed and 1000 armed Avalokiteswara image along with the recently redecorated dukhang (hall).


Day 07 Trek Heniskut – Kanji

From today we will start trekking. Upto Kanji it will takes us 4/5 hrs and trekkers have to cross the Kanji Nallah all the time. Kanji is village with 20 small houses. There is a small gompa with a monk from Lamayuru, there is also a samll gompa of Lotsawa Rinchen Zangpo with wall paintings. The camp site is 15 mits from the village.


Day 08: Trek Kanji – Base of Kanji la

It takes 5 to 6 hours to reach camp. The trek goes a long the stream till Koing-Do (Sumdo) where 4 valleys meet. After Koing-Do the trek turns to right and goes along the small stream.


Day 09: Trek Base of Kanji la – West Base of Kanji la

It takes about 8 to 9 hours climbing the descending to the camp. The trekkers have to climb right from the camp after the top descend through a narrow valley which has some glaciers. Camp near the Rangdum Nallah.


Day 10: Trek Rangdum Nallah to Gulmatangole.

Leave after breakfast continue the trek on the right side on the train till you will reach main Kargil/Padam road. From there take follow the path on right side till we reach Gulmatangole. Camp near the river.


Day 11: Trek Gulmatangole to Camp Murien

Leave camp cross the river and trek go up till we reach Camp Murien. Overnight in Camp


Day 12: Trek Murien to Base camp

Leave camp after breakfast start ascending till we reach Base Camp.


Day 13: In Base Camp


Day 14: In Base Camp


Day 15 to 24: Summit


Day 25: Trek base camp to Gulmatangole


Day 26: Drive Gulmatangole - Kargil.

Overnight in Hotel.


Day 27: Drive Kargil - Leh.

Overnight in Hotel


Day 28: In Leh


Day 29: Flight Leh - Delhi.

Arrival transfer from airport to Hotel. Afternoon visit Indian Mountaineering Foundation.


Day 30: In Delhi

Morning free. Late evening transfer to airport for homeward flight.


Day 31: Departure.
